Biography
Ajay Nagpal is the President & Chief Operating Officer of Millennium, a global alternative investment firm with over 6,600 employees in offices around the globe.
Founded in 1989, the leading asset management firm manages more than $86.7 billion, pursuing a diverse array of investment strategies across industry sectors, asset classes and geographies. Millennium’s mission is to deliver the alternative investment industry’s highest quality returns to investors while maintaining a commitment to core principles of integrity, discipline, and excellence.
Ajay is responsible for overseeing various aspects of global operations in his role as COO of Millennium and is a member of the Senior Management Team. He draws on his experience as a Managing Director and Head of Prime Services at Barclays, where he led various lines of business, including Fixed Income Financing and Foreign Exchange Prime Brokerage.
After serving as Managing Director at J.P. Morgan in New York for nearly nine years, Ajay held various roles in fixed income at Lehman Brothers, concluding his time as Head of Fixed Income Derivatives Marketing for Financial Institutions. He then moved internally to work in equity, serving as a managing director and Global Head of Equities Sales.
Ajay sits on the board of several nonprofit organizations including Echoing Green, a network of industry leaders that encourages diversity and racial equality. He is also a Trustee of Morristown-Beard School, and is an Advisory Board Member of the President’s Leadership Council at Brown University.
Ajay earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and South Asian Studies from Brown University and a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University Kennedy School of Government.
