Biography

Brian Myerson is a hedge fund pioneer and founder of Principle Capital Group. He entered the UK market with an activist investment strategy in 1989 and co-founded the Active Value group in 1992. Over the following two decades, he realised investments worth over US$1.2bn and clients included some of the world’s largest family offices, institutional investors and sovereign wealth and pension funds.

Principle Capital Group was founded in 2004 and under his leadership, the group has acquired and sold many investments in the public and private markets across many different sectors.

Brian has strong ties to his home country of South Africa and the African continent, where he has made several investments, worth over US$800m, since 2003. These include investment into Earthchild Clothing, a leading South African childrenswear brand , subsequently sold to Truworths; leading a consortium of investors, including a division of Old Mutual, in fintech platform Connect and its subsequent sale to NASDAQ listed Lesaka Technologies for $264m; PME, a $180m African Infrastructure Fund cornerstoned by the Qatar Investment Authority; and the acquisition of a controlling stake in the leading African railway services solutions provider Traxtion in partnership with the $600m Pan African Infrastructure Development Fund.

In 2021, Brian co-founded, in conjunction with Enertrag and the Namibian government, Hyphen Hydrogen Energy, which is pioneering the production of green hydrogen in Africa and most recently he has invested into CloudBase Technologies and co-founded Praetorian, businesses focused on sovereign cloud optimisation and technical security services.

He is Chair of Traxtion and has served as Chair or on the Board of nine listed companies, including Sirius Real Estate, PME African Infrastructure Opportunities, Liberty, MWB Group, Greycoat and Sage Life.
