Biography

Igor Tulchinsky is the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of WorldQuant, the quantitative asset management firm he established in 2007. He also serves as Head of Research and Chairman of the Office of the Chief Investment Officer.

Igor has been guided by the belief that talent is global, but opportunity is not. This philosophy has shaped WorldQuant's international research network, including WorldQuant BRAIN, a global simulation and research platform that that gives researchers access to data and tools for developing predictive models.

Igor has also established organisations focused on frontier technologies and prediction. He founded WorldQuant Ventures, a venture capital platform, supporting entrepreneurs and early-stage companies working across fintech, AI, data science, and deep technology, and WorldQuant Foundry, a deep-tech venture studio that builds companies around technologies including AI, neuromorphic computing, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and HealthTech.

Further, Igor founded WorldQuant University, a not-for-profit institution offering free online programmes in quantitative finance and data science. He also helped establish the WorldQuant Initiative for Quantitative Prediction at Weill Cornell Medicine to advance the application of predictive modelling to precision medicine.

Before founding WorldQuant, Igor spent 12 years at Millennium Management as a statistical arbitrage portfolio manager. Prior to joining Millenium, he worked as a scientist at AT&T Bell Laboratories, was a video game programmer and worked in venture capital.

Igor is the author of several publications including Finding Alphas: A Quantitative Approach to Building Trading Strategies, The UnRules: Man, Machines and the Quest to Master Markets and The Age of Prediction: Algorithms, AI, and the Shifting Shadows of Risk. In 2026, he supported the British Museum's landmark exhibition of the Bayeux Tapestry.
