Louis Chênevert is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of United Technologies Corporation (UTC), and a recognized industrial leader in lean manufacturing and operational transformation. He served as President and Chief Operating Officer of UTC, leading global aerospace and building systems operations.
His career began at General Motors, where he held manufacturing and operations positions, progressing to Production General Manager with responsibility for vehicle assembly programs. This was followed by his term at Pratt & Whitney Canada, where he advanced to President with responsibility for global engine manufacturing, aftermarket services, and supply chain operations across commercial and defence aviation.
During his tenure as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of UTC, the company strengthened its aerospace position through major transactions, including the acquisition of Goodrich and the integration of GE’s security business, while increasing its ownership in International Aero Engines in support of the Airbus A320 platform.
Under his leadership, achievements included advancing the Geared Turbofan engine, securing UTC’s position on the F135 engine program for the Joint Strike Fighter, and overseeing the development of next-generation rotorcraft technologies within Sikorsky. Expansion of UTC’s manufacturing footprint included establishing operations in Poland, China, and India, alongside a focus on operational efficiency through cost discipline and production systems.
Following his executive career, Louis assumed advisory and board roles with several organizations, including Goldman Sachs, where he served as an advisor, and Cargill, where he is a member of the board of directors, focusing on industrial strategy, governance, and manufacturing performance.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Production Management from Université de Montréal.
