Maria manages tailored equity portfolios, advising individuals, families, not-for-profit organizations and endowments. She has been a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder since 1999.
Maria was a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Merrill Private Wealth Management for sixteen years. Earlier in her career, she worked at U.S. Trust (now Bank of America Private Bank) and Brown Brothers Harriman as a Portfolio Manager. During the 1980s, she also served for three years as a Press Associate for the New York City Mayor, Edward I. Koch.
She is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Finance Division at Columbia Business School and has delivered a course entitled ‘Management for High-Net-Worth Clients’.
Currently serving as a board member of the Cancer Research and Treatment Fund, Maria leverages her prior experience as a biotechnology mutual fund manager at U.S. Trust. She is a high-level member of Aperture Foundation, a photography non-profit supportive of artists. Maria is also a member of Havens Relief Fund Society, a charitable organization that provides emergency grants to low‑income individuals or families facing financial crises. She previously served as an advisor to The Grass Foundation, a neuroscience non-profit organization. She was a member of the Professional Advisory Committee of Central Park Conservancy.
Maria holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Journalism from New York University and a Master’s degree from the University of Virginia. She attended The Middlesex School in in Concord, Massachusetts.
