Biography
Murry N. Gunty is an American entrepreneur, business founder, investor, and sports-operations executive. He is the founder of Blackstreet Capital Holdings, a private holding company, and the founder of Black Bear Sports Group, a sports management company focused on ice arenas, youth hockey, junior hockey, sports facilities, events, and community access to ice sports.
Gunty founded Black Bear Sports Group in 2015 and led the company as CEO until 2026, when Kevin Kuby was announced as CEO. During Gunty’s leadership, Black Bear grew from its initial rink operations into a national hockey and ice-sports platform.
Earlier in his career, Gunty held roles at The Blackstone Group, Lazard Frères Real Estate, and Jacobson Partners. He holds an A.B. in economics from Harvard College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
A lifelong hockey player and fan who grew up in Portland, Maine, Gunty’s work with Black Bear Sports Group reflects his long-standing connection to the sport and his interest in supporting rink operations, youth hockey, and community-based access to ice sports.
