In Their Own Right
Oliver Laurence is an investigations, crisis management and strategic communications adviser who works with ultra-high-net-worth individuals, global families, family offices, celebrities, sports personalities and their legal advisers. His work centres on complex, sensitive and often contentious matters where private disputes, investigations or security concerns may develop into public or reputational issues. He advises clients worldwide on investigations, crisis response and strategic communications, helping them establish the facts, assess risk and manage their narrative and public profile. His work often involves cross-border disputes, extortion, kidnapping, due diligence, asset tracing and reputational risk, and he regularly works alongside legal counsel, law enforcement, regulators and communications teams. A central part of his approach is ensuring that communications strategy is grounded in reliable information, particularly where litigation, media scrutiny or competing accounts are involved. Oliver is Group CEO of Periculum Security Group, where he advises individuals and families on complex challenges that can require investigative analysis, intelligence, asset tracing, litigation support and careful management of how a matter is presented publicly. He began his career in policing in Australia, serving for 12 years before moving into government and private-sector investigations. In 2016, he entered the private sector and later held senior roles with I-OnAsia in the UK, Europe and Australia. He also serves voluntarily as Managing Director of The Public Safety Foundation and is a regular media commentator on policing and critical incidents. In 2026, Oliver was appointed a Visiting Fellow of the Durham Institute of Research, Development, and Invention (DIRDI), advising on Governance, Risk, Security, Investigations & Crisis Management.
