Biography

Rattan Chadha is the Founder and Executive Chairman of citizenM, a transformational hotel concept that provides luxury at affordable prices with hotels in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, London, Glasgow, Paris, Copenhagen, Zurich, New York, Seattle, Boston, Taipei, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur and Miami.

Chadha was the Founder and CEO of the fashion brand Mexx until its sale in 2004. Over an 18-year period, Mexx grew to 1,200 stores in 56 countries with annual sales of €1 billion and 6,500 employees.

After the sale of Mexx, Rattan started his own private equity company, KRC Capital BV, which focuses its investments in fashion, hotels, real estate and leisure.

Rattan is the President & Owner of the Royal Mougins Golf Resort in Mougins, France, a championship 18 hole golf course with a hotel and spa.

In 2000 Rattan was knighted by the Queen of the Netherlands as a "Ridder" for his entrepreneurial success and his various philanthropic activities. In 2004 he won the "Grand Seigneur" Award of the Netherlands, the highest award for excellence in branding and lifestyle marketing.

In 2008 Rattan was awarded the "China Trader Award" for his "lifetime achievements" for the unique way he encouraged and developed trade relations between China and the Netherlands over several decades.
