Salah Mussa is a businessman, investor and philanthropist whose career in finance and property spans more than four decades. He is Chairman of Mercantile Group, the global real estate conglomerate founded by his father, Mohammad Mussa. Mercantile is the parent company of Chestertons Global and Chesterfield Developments.
Mercantile Group bought Chestertons, an underperforming central London estate agency, in 2005. Under Salah Mussa’s leadership, Chestertons grew from 11 offices to 32 and expanded internationally, opening branches in 12 countries. In October 2023 Chestertons UK was sold to private equity group, Emeria.
Mercantile Group retains the Chestertons Global business and its extensive network of offices in 16 countries. Over the next five to seven years, Salah Mussa’s vision is to continue the company’s expansion worldwide. Next year, Chestertons Global will open its head office in Riyadh, capitalising on recent reforms in the Saudi Arabian property market which offer significant opportunities for both international and domestic investors.
Chestertons Global continues to work closely with Emeria to ensure that opportunities are freely shared across all companies using the Chestertons brand.
As a keen supporter of Polo, Salah has helped bring the sport to a wider audience through Chestertons’ sponsorship of the annual Polo in the Park tournament in London. In 2023 the first Chestertons Polo in the Park Dubai took place, and Salah has plans to expand the concept to other countries.
In 2019, Salah established Chestertons Foundation to improve social mobility and aid homeless people in the UK. Since then, the Foundation has broadened its scope globally, financing significant projects in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. As it continues to expand internationally, the Foundation remains dedicated to supporting the world's most impoverished communities.
